Police allege a 45-year-old senior member of the Gypsy Jokers bikie club approached a contact at the Department of Health’s Pathwest laboratory in March and asked her to tamper with two urine samples belonging to two of his employees.

He offered the woman money in return for substituting the samples with “clean” urine to help them secure jobs in the resources sector.

Following a joint investigation between police and the Corruption and Crime Commission, police travelled to Tom Price last week and charged the 40-year-old woman with two counts of acting corruptly as a public officer.

She was also charged of possessing heroin, and a 43-year-old Tom Price man was also charged with possessing heroin with intent to sell or supply.

On Wednesday, the investigation led to another four people being charged by summons in relation to the urine sample substitution – including the 45-year-old Gypsy Joker member, who is also facing heroin possession charges.

The two employees who had their urine samples substituted, a 41-year-old Parmelia man and a 26-year-old from Roleystone, were charged with gaining benefit by fraud.

A 24-year-old who was involved in contracting the pair is also facing fraud charges.

All four will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on June 27.

The man and woman from Tom Price will appear in Tom Price Magistrates Court on July 18.
