WITH a recent track record of draws, Warrnambool and District Yellow will be striving for a clear result in the closing round of the Western Regional State League open competition tonight.

But a trademark stalemate could also be enough for it to cement a spot in the top four.

Fourth-ranked Yellow is clinging to a finals spot on percentage as it has the same points (20) as tonight’s opponent, fifth-placed Camperdown Night Netball Association.

Yellow has the attacking power to win but could be stretched to find a defender to match up with Camperdown shooter Narelle Welsh.

The likely keeper will be Lisa Anders, while Claire Wines and Kristie Bolden provide height.

A definitive outcome in tonight’s match should advance the victor to finals, along with top three Hampden White, Hampden Green and Port Fairy Netball Association.

However, Port Fairy and Hampden Green are not completely out of the woods.

The pair sit only two points above Yellow and Camperdown on the ladder, but Green has the strongest percentage (152.03) of the competition.

Port’s percentage (128.91) is lower than Yellow’s (139.33) and similar to Camperdown’s (124.21).

Yellow, who drew with Port Fairy in round four and Hampden Green last week, is no stranger to collecting half the points on offer.

And two points is all Yellow and Camperdown need to retain and threaten a top four spot respectively.

Hampden White should hold on to top spot as it plays Colac and District tonight.

In the 17 and under competition, Hampden Green and Hampden White will fight for a place in the grand final, while Warrnambool and District and Warrnambool City will do battle in the first semi-final.
