The Falcons and Rebels released their final under 18 lists yesterday, with 28 south-west footballers making the cut.

Rebels region manager Phil Partington said North Ballarat players would participate in a camp this weekend, which includes a TAC Cup fitness testing day at Maribyrnong Secondary College on Saturday.

“It’s going to be the first time we’ve sat down as a playing group and we’ll go through all the AFL requirements,” Partington said of the camp.

“It will start Friday night and go right through to Sunday, when we’ll watch the Bulldogs and Kangaroos play at Eureka Stadium.”

South-west players in the 2012 Rebels squad are Martin Gleeson, Haydn Drew (Koroit), Liam Youl, Wil Pomorin, Louis Herbert, Jayden Whitehead (South Warrnambool), Tom Smith (North Warrnambool Eagles), Nathan Haylock, Jaydon Stiles, Ben Malcolm (Portland), Tim Meulendykes (Hamilton Imperials) and Ashiel Dau (Emmanuel Hawks).

“We’re happy with all the boys across the whole region and certainly the boys we’ve selected have impressed not only in the practice matches, but through the whole pre-season phase of training,” Partington said.

South-west players selected on the Falcons’ final list were Lewis Taylor, Alex Moloney, Xavier Lourey, Tommy Moloney (Terang Mortlake), Michael Salmon, Brendan Richardson, Sam Cunnington, Daniel Watson (Cobden), Nicholas Bourke (Kolora-Noorat), Kody Spokes, Darcy Lang, David O’Sullivan, Brody Mahoney (Colac), Dylan McCarthy (South Colac), Jack Berry (Irrewarra-Beeac) and Sam Gordon (Camperdown), who is listed as a 19-year-old player.

The Falcons and Rebels are scheduled to meet in a practice match Sunday week in Ballarat.

Both sides will both open their TAC Cup season in Ballarat on March 31, with Geelong taking on Bendigo Pioneers, while the Rebels tackle Murray Bushrangers.
