New executive officer Richard Zerbe is moving to CSW from a five-year history as the strategy and analysis manager at Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority (CMA).

Warrnambool’s Mr Zerbe said yesterday his interest in community health and wellbeing had drawn him to the role and he linked it to certain elements of natural resource management.

“I’m looking forward to working with the south-west community,” he told The Standard.

“I’ve worked in similar types of executive roles previously.

“My previous role (at the CMA) included engaging with people in the community and providing them with skills to deliver natural resource outcomes.”

Mr Zerbe said he wanted to help the CSW coalition have a “stronger voice” and use its collective resources to gain more community support for each group’s initiatives.

“My role is to assist 15 organisations achieve outcomes that they can’t on their own,” he said.

“The role supports the community in the not-for-profit sector and finds opportunities and challenges in this region for the organisations to progress.

“(It’s to) encourage greater awareness of what the not-for-profit sector delivers to the region.”

Mr Zerbe starts work at CSW today in time for the organisation’s autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) seminars.

He will take over the duties of executive officer from Allan Bassett next month.

“I hope to be able to carry the level of competency and standard that Allan has maintained,” Mr Zerbe said.

Mr Bassett, who has been manning the role for the past three years, said he was ready to move on to another stage of his life.

“I have no doubt at all that Richard will do a good job,” Mr Bassett said.

“He brings new contacts to the organisation and will have different ideas.”

Organisations under CSW’s umbrella include Mpower, Aspire, Vantage Incorporated, South West Credit, Brophy and Western District Employment Access.
