Michael Ivan Olexyn, 28, of Fairie Street, Hexham, and Ebony Primmer, 28, of Hamilton Highway, Hexham, both pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court last week to causing criminal damage.

The Hexham pair was convicted and fined $500 and ordered to pay compensation.

Olexyn was ordered to pay $540 compensation and he also pleaded guilty to failing to answer bail.

Primmer had been in court previously and was ordered to pay $1255.50 compensation.

The court heard that the pair was in an on-again off-again relationship when Primmer, who was four months pregnant, invited Olexyn to her home on December 2.

The next morning Olexyn said he wanted to call off the relationship, they argued and he left dressed only in his underwear.

Olexyn then used an axe to damage a tyre, rim and wheel of Primmer’s car.

Primmer armed herself with a steel poker.

She hit the bonnet of Olexyn’s hire car with the poker and then smashed his vehicle’s back window.

They both now have intervention orders against each other.

Magistrate Ian von Einem said it was clear that the relationship had soured and both had behaved badly.
