The Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria were scheduled to start the burn at 11am.

The 160-hectare common is home to a flora reserve or grasslands. The aim of the work is to reduce fine fuels across 80 per cent of the area and to assist with the promotion of native grasses.

Smoke may be visible in Mortlake, Hexham, Ellerslie and surrounding areas.
