Detective Sergeant Steve Brown of the criminal investigation unit said two attempted burglaries were reported — one at Tim Campbell’s Motorcycles in Fern Street and the other at a Learmonth Street nursery.

He said a padlock on a door was damaged at the motorcycle premises, possibly as a result of offenders trying to break in.

Detective Sergeant Brown said a sliding window was broken as thieves gained access to the nursery, where a cash register and other items were tampered with but nothing was reported stolen.

Police were also called to sporting clubrooms yesterday at Cavalier Park, on Wellington Road, after a window was found smashed.

It is not known yet if anyone gained entry to the clubrooms.

Hamilton police are also looking into the circumstances of a two-car collision at the intersection of Rippon Road and Ballarat Road on Saturday afternoon.

The vehicles collided at 3.40pm. Ambulance officers attended and treated the occupants of the cars at the scene.
