Under Western District Bowls Division rules, all matches on Saturday were abandoned, meaning that ladder positions after round 17 will carry into the finals.

In next Saturday’s opening week of finals, powerhouses Warrnambool Gold and City Memorial Red will play off for a spot in the division one grand final, while Warrnambool Blue will meet Dennington Red in the cut-throat first semi.

City Blue and Warrnambool Red are playing to keep their seasons alive in division two, while Koroit Blue and Warrnambool White clash in the second semi. Warrnambool Orange and Dennington Green are out to claim the quickest route to the decider in division three, while Koroit White meets City White in the first semi.

In division four, Port Fairy Black and Warrnambool Yellow battle in the do-or-die final while Warrnambool Maroon and Koroit Green are aiming to advance to the grand final.

The venues for the first week of the 2011-12 Saturday Pennant finals series will be decided at a committee meeting tonight.

Meanwhile, the cancellation of Saturday’s matches mean City Memorial Green (division one), Port Fairy Gold (division two) and City Memorial Orange (division three) remain in the relegation positions.
